As an Industry expert we follow employer policy & procedure, performance standards, competency framework, and evaluation plan, Registered Training Organisation (RTO) guideline, Australia’s national VET requirement, Australian Fair Work Ombudsman and Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) requirement. Work placement can be both paid or unpaid. To be lawful, businesses need to ensure that the student is not an employee. According to Australian Fair Work Ombudsman, Students completing vocational placements are not considered to be employees and therefore are not entitled to the minimum wage nor other entitlements provided under the FW Act.
